What is a turn?

1. Turn – When a face becomes a heel or when a heel becomes a face.

For example:

Steve Austin made a heel turn at Wrestlemania X7 after beating the crap out of The Rock and sided with Vince McMahon in order to win the WWF Championship.

A good example of a face turn is when Batista, once of Evolution, turns on Triple H and powerbombs his Greenwich ass onto a table and signed the title match contract for Wrestlemania 21.

Bret vs. Shawn Survivor Series Hype Video

This video was aired two weeks (I think) before Survivor Series 1997. The Hart/Michaels feud’s the greatest of all time. As a kid, I didn’t know which of the stuff they are saying there are real. Eleven years after I can still feel the tension.

I’ll try to write more about the Bret/Shawn feud.

Ludvig Borga, or Tony Halme in real life, wrestled for the WWE back in 1993-94. He feuded with the likes of Tatanka and Marty Jannetty during that time. Borga participated in the main event for Survivor Series 1993, teaming up with Yokozuna, Quebecer Jacques, and Crush against Lex Luger, The Steiner Brothers, and The Undertaker. The WWE had big plans for the Finn during that time (he actually won the Intercontinental belt from Razor Ramon, only the decision was reversed due to Shawn Michaels’ interference). He quit the WWE due to injuries.

The Helsinki Hellraiser won a seat in the Parliament of Finland in 2003. He also wrote four books and even cut an album. Last I’ve heard, he sings like David Hasselhoff.

I’ve been a wrestling nut as far as I can remember. Ever since a cousin lent me a Betamax copy of Wrestlemania IV I was hooked up on wrestling. I even had to sneak in to our TV room during Wednesday evenings just to watch “All Star Professional Wrestling” on IBC 13 at 10:00 PM because my mom won’t let me stay up late (I think I was 8 or 9 at the time).

I remember Earthquake beating the shit out of Hulk Hogan during an episode of the Brother Love show and that was, well, how much can a kid take? EPIC TRAUMA! Gawd, Hogan can’t even breathe! And he can barely hold on to his little golden crucifix that he wears around his neck. OMFG! Hogan’s gonna die! Hogan’s gonna die! And while the kids on the front row are crying, I, a pre-pubescent male, wondered how is this real and why am I seeing this? Hulkamania is dead!

That was the build up for Summerslam ’90. Hogan vs. Earthquake. Warrior vs. Ravishing Rick. Hart Foundation vs. Demolition. Ah those were the days. I remember that was the first Summerslam I’ve watched in its entirety.
