Coming down the aisle…

I’ve been a wrestling nut as far as I can remember. Ever since a cousin lent me a Betamax copy of Wrestlemania IV I was hooked up on wrestling. I even had to sneak in to our TV room during Wednesday evenings just to watch “All Star Professional Wrestling” on IBC 13 at 10:00 PM because my mom won’t let me stay up late (I think I was 8 or 9 at the time).

I remember Earthquake beating the shit out of Hulk Hogan during an episode of the Brother Love show and that was, well, how much can a kid take? EPIC TRAUMA! Gawd, Hogan can’t even breathe! And he can barely hold on to his little golden crucifix that he wears around his neck. OMFG! Hogan’s gonna die! Hogan’s gonna die! And while the kids on the front row are crying, I, a pre-pubescent male, wondered how is this real and why am I seeing this? Hulkamania is dead!

That was the build up for Summerslam ‘90. Hogan vs. Earthquake. Warrior vs. Ravishing Rick. Hart Foundation vs. Demolition. Ah those were the days. I remember that was the first Summerslam I’ve watched in its entirety.
